Chief Engineer

R oderick Gonzales received his B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mapua University – Manila Philippines in November 1994.  Mr. Gonzales is a member of ASHRAE.

Roderick Gonzales is a registered professional engineer in the State of California, Nevada, Louisiana, and Texas.

Roderick Gonzales accepted the position of Chief Engineer for Hellman & Lober in 2014.  Prior to his accepting this new position, he worked at other Los Angeles based engineering firms resulting in an array of assignments.

Roderick specializes in HVAC design for commercial and residential applications including healthcare, large public assembly, educational, offices, institutional facilities, residential apartments, restaurants, hotels, and chilled & heating hot water central plants. He also has broad knowledge and experience in the design of sustainable and LEED projects using Variable Air Volume, Radiant Cooling and Heating, Underfloor Air Distribution, Displacement Ventilation, Variable Refrigerant Flow, Demand Control Ventilation and “Sureflow” heating and cooling systems configuration.  Roderick has engineered several applications of Variable Refrigerant Flow systems for hospitality and housing projects.   “Sureflow” is a proprietary chilled and heating system that functions similar to 4-pipe fan coil unit system often used for hospitality projects.  However, the application converts a 2-pipe manual changeover system to a system that allows 1 of the 2 pipes to be dedicated to chilled water and the 2nd pipe dedicated to the heating water allowing for simultaneous heating and cooling.

Mr. Gonzales brings a varied and extensive background to the firm as his experience and interest in computers enhances our present calculating and drafting software programming. Not only experienced in Trace 700, EnergyPro and AutoCAD software but experienced with BIM REVIT software.
